Crisp Packet Leads Do-Gooders To Court
“Citizen Litter Guards” George Watless and Henry Flitcher found themselves behind the dock yesterday after coming to blows over a dropped crisp packet.
The two beat each other with clipboards and walking stick over who’s list the offending item was going on.
“We had an agreement,” said Watless, “I would do food wrappings and Henry would do sweets. When we saw a little yobbo drop a crisp packet Henry put it on his list. I said Here! that’s food not sweets!”
Flitcher for his part said food was “take-aways and hot stuff” and crisps “were categorised as sweets.”
Watless said he was only two reportings from getting his good citizen of the week award, and badly wanted the points.
Things escalated and soon clipboards were being snatched and walking sticks flying.
Unrepentant outside the court, Flitcher blamed inadequate guidelines.
“There should be a supervisor you can telephone for advice on difficult litter, how are we supposed to maintain law and order without proper backup?”
