Ballot Papers Too Short For Steve

Eynesbury Lib Dem councillor Steven van der Whitevanman was under pressure today to change his name by deedpoll to something a little shorter.

Whitevanman, whose full name is Steven van der Whitevandriver van der Whitevandriverman van der Whitevandriver, came under attack by Electoral Reform officials who say his name is too long for a standard ballot paper, and cannot be abbreviated to fit on.

Whitevanman was said to be considering his options, and names such as Oscar Frantz and Lee Roy were being mooted.

    Hi Tim,

Have you seen Whitevanman’s dad is wading in now. This might make the problem with the ballot paper even worse. Presuming WVM Snr is dipping his toe in the political bog of St Neots we could see two WVM’s standing. The confusion could be immense and lead to there being suffixed as WVM the Elder and WVM the Younger required on ballot papers.

    Bye

    Jonathan
